Psalm 68 This painting reflects on the victory, peace, and joy of God proclaimed in Psalm 68. At its center, a mourning dove rests peacefully on a flowering branch, symbolizing the confidence of those who trust the Lord to fight for them. The dove does not strive for victory, it rests in the Lord’s. In the same way, God graciously gives His people the triumph that belongs to Him, freeing them to live in peace and joyful trust. The dripping paint and whimsical ribbons reference the psalm's imagery of God's enemies fleeing like smoke and melting like wax before His presence. In contrast, the vibrant flowers celebrate the beauty, abundance, and joy that bloom when we rest in God's faithfulness. As opposition scatters, God's people are invited not merely into safety, but into rejoicing. Psalm 68 is a song of celebration, calling the righteous to be glad, exult before God, and delight in Him. I chose a mourning dove rather than a traditional white dove to reflect the psalm's mention of Benjamin, the youngest tribe, being placed in the lead of the procession celebrating God’s victory. Throughout Scripture, God delights in using the humble, overlooked, and unlikely to accomplish His purposes and display His glory. Through this piece, I hope to invite you all into the peace and joy that come from resting in God's power, knowing that the battle belongs to Him, the victory is His to give, and His presence is a source of everlasting delight.
